Installtion instructions:
1) The roofing deck must be clear of all debris and moisture prior to installation of organic roofing felt.
2) Roofing felt should be installed from the bottom of the roof deck in horizontal layers. The first layer of felt should be installed to cover the entire bottom edge of deck. This increases the water shedding ability of organic roofing felt.
3) Anchor the top corner of the roofing felt after the roll has been properly positioned in place and spread the roll across the roof. Care must be taken to roll out roofing felt roll smoothly and avoid any wrinkles as the roofing sheet is rolled across the roof.
4) Apply underlayment with minimum 12ga, 1-1/4" ring shank nails through minimum 32ga, 1-5/8" diameter tin caps. Fastener spacing should be a maximum of 6 inches on center at laps and 12 inches on center in two rows in the field.
5) For Roof Slopes from two units vertical in 12 units horizontal (17% slope) and up to four units vertical in 12 units horizontal (33% slope) underlayment must be applied in double layer with a 19 inch headlap and minimum 6 inch sidelap. Distortion in the roofing felt underlayment shall not interfere with ability of shingles to seal. 6) For roof slopes of four units vertical in 12 units horizontal (33% slope) or greater, underlayment shall be applied in a single layer with a 4 inch headlap and minimum 6 inch side lap. Distortions in the roofing underlayment shall not interfere with ability of shingles to seal.
7) At hip and ridge intersections, fasten the top course if it terminates at the top edge of the roof. Otherwise, overlap the underlayment over the hip or ridge and fasten the roofing felt. 8) In Valleys, lay a vertical section of the organic roofing felt in the middle of the valley along the length of the valley prior to installation of the horizontal courses of the roofing felt. Horizontal courses at the valley intersection shall be woven.
9) Take precaution to avoid wrinkles. In the event some wrinkles are formed while fastening the felt, slice the wrinkles and fasten them flat to the deck. Then seal the cuts with waterproofing cement.
